Appartamenti in affitto a Rab(Croazia)
Sometimes we don’t know what to put in our beach bag when we visit new places so we thought to prepare a check-list of 10 things that cannot be missing in our backpack!
Loris and I love to spend the whole day at the beach, from the early hours of the morning when the sun is still warm until it sets. The more isolated the beaches are, the better, so over the years we have learned to draw up a list of things that you absolutely must take with you. The most beautiful beaches of Rab are not equipped so it may be useful to read our check-list to leave equipped!
- Padded mattresses: indispensable in Croatia, where sandy beaches are rare, and lying on the rocks or stones can only be a pleasant experience for a fakir! You will find them everywhere in Croatia and of all kinds, rolled or fan-folded. Fan-shaped ones are softer but bulkier, ideal for accessible beaches. For those like us who often go on long walks, rolled-up ones are preferable, to hang on the backpack.
- Rock shoes and sneakers: another essential must-have in Croatia are rock shoes, both for the conformity of the seabed and for the presence of sea urchins. With your shoes on you can go anywhere you want by securing your feet! On the other hand, sneakers or trekking shoes are indispensable if you decide to walk to reach some heavenly beach (forget the flip-flops). For some paths, rock shoes are sufficient if they are sturdy enough; this way you can save space in your backpack for an extra sandwich!
- Sun cream: a good point, especially when preparing to spend the whole day in the sun!
- Water and food: always provide something to refresh yourself because in Croatia not all beaches are equipped with refreshments: liters of water, lunch, fruit and absolutely ... coffee! We also bring non-drinkable water to remove the salt after a bath.
- Tent: if you intend to stay all day on the beach it is better not to let the sun fool you, as it can sometimes be hard to find natural shade. We use Quechua's “Fresh multifunctional Tarp”, which is adaptable to different terrains and according to the sun and wind.
- Masks and fins: if you spend half the time like us in the water snorkeling, then it is essential to have the right equipment; the seabed that we absolutely prefer is that of Suha Punta, rich in fish and sea urchins.
- Plastic bag: it happens that sometimes when we arrive in isolated beaches we find plastic either forgotten or brought by the sea, so we always carry a bag for our waste and for those we find! A minimal gesture to preserve these magnificent places and respect the nature that welcomes us!
- First aid kit: if like me you are distracted and easily get hurt, I recommend that you have a mini first aid kit with you: patches and disinfectant have become my best friends!
- Camera: now we all have a smartphone to photograph these enchanting places; we collect lots of photos every time to keep and look back when you return to normal!
- And finally, you can't miss the playing cards! When we are tired of taking a bath we go back to our tent and relax by playing cards or reading a good book!
And you, what do you absolutely put in your backpack?
FINS, GLASSES, TOWEL AND WHAT ELSE… 10 THINGS TO BRING TO THE BEACH!
About us
We are Italico and Leda, we are husband and wife, and we come from a small town near Udine, in the north east corner of Italy not so far from Venice. When we landed on Rab island in 2008, the crystal clear sea, unspoiled nature and the scent of licorice enchanted us, so deeply that we decided to buy a house here.
